Crayfish Feeding in General

by Admin on Mon Feb 02, 2009 10:36 pm

Crayfish are naturally opportunistic scavengers and will eat just about anything they can get their lil' claws on. Suggested foods for your crayfish are:

-Sinking pellets (Carnivore, Algae, Blends, etc)
-Anything that has spirulina in it.
-Fish, live or dead. Some crayfish enjoy scraps, some enjoy catching feeders (please remember, unless you've raised the fish yourself... you'll need to quarantine the feeders first. A lot of them are kept in poor conditions and may be sick or carrying parasites)
-Veggies. Crays love veggies (recommended to try first are Peas, String Beans and Cucumbers)
-Plants. Anacharis, Hornwort and Java Fern are favored by a large number of species. (Additionally, this is also the reason people with planted aquariums tend to avoid crayfish)
-Bloodworms, Blackworms, etc
-Eggshells, Cuttlebone, Tums. If your crayfish is not getting enough calcium in it's diet, these are good supplements for them.
